EPW - Vacheron & Constantin, Genève, 48mm, 18K gold OF original case with polychrome enameled rear having scene of two women watching a putto pour liquid from a chalice into a fountain as smoke arises, bezel and rear perimeter with attractive high relief foliate detail, signed gold cuvette, gilt dial, gold hands, SW-SS, lever escapement with capped escape wheel, 17J, wolf's tooth winding, gilt mvt, s#370283. Comes with an extract from the Vacheron & Constantin archives. A very beautiful piece; men's size Vacheron & Constantin watches of this vintage with enameled scenes are quite rare and we are pleased to offer this exquisite example.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, virtually mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, superb gilt tone, very few small mild surface spots; dial with some darkening at perimeter, darkening to central portion of seconds-register, mild darkening to remainder of seconds-register; nearly mint hands; case shows virtually no wear, no dents or dings, superb engraving detail, rear enameling is fully intact with no flaws, cuvette with a long scratch from a past slipped opening and some smaller fine scratches; tight bow, crown shows hardly any wear; good glass crystal.
